How did you discover Paganism?
I don’t really know. I just had an interest in the Occult at a young age and it progressed into this.

How long have you been a practicing Pagan?
For the last twelve years.

No not anymore.

What is the meaning behind your magical name?

What is your path or tradition?
I am an animist, a polytheist, and a Witch.

What is your favorite part of your path?
The silent knowing that comes from grasping the infinite web of magic in all of life.

Is your path a religion, a spiritual system, or something else?
It is a way of life.

Are you solitary or a group practitioner?
I meet up with some locals mainly to socialize, but I am mostly a solitary practitioner. I will occasionally work with others, but I generally find it counter-intuitive to my regular praxis.

Were you self-taught or trained?
Self-taught through ancestral awareness, experience, and research.

Are you out of the broom closet?
Some of my family know, my close friends know, and I don’t feel that any one else needs to know. I have always believed that a person’s religion/spirituality/beliefs are personal. I feel no need to broadcast these things about myself in most situations. However, I do not deny what I am.

Do you live in a city, in suburbia, or in the country?
I don’t know actually. Where I live, in Los Osos, we are an unincorporated community with a population of about 14,377. We are a small, seaside town, bordered by an estuary, a national park, protected wilderness areas, and farmland. Our “city” is San Luis Obispo (my hometown) is 10 miles away. It has the population of about 44,359. So I guess I would say rural.

Do you regularly commune with nature?
Yes, on an almost daily basis.

Have you ever taken a camping trip just to talk to nature?
No. I don’t need to camp to talk to nature.

Have you ever walked barefoot in the woods?
I use to all the time but I fell out of the habit.

Do you hug trees?
Only when I climb them.

Do you have a sacred space inside or outside of your house?
There is no part of my living space, or the world for that matter, that isn’t sacred. I’ve done workings in every part of my home. I don’t partition off the sacred.

What is your favorite way to cast a circle?
I don’t cast formal “circles.”

What do you wear during rituals; robes or do you go skyclad?
I generally wear plain clothes.

Do you cast spells?
Yes.

What was the first spell you cast?
Depends on your definition of spell I guess. The first magical act I performed was making a school bus stall when I was between 4 and 6 years old. My first spell was a horrible curse I put on a boy who broke up with me when I was 12 or 13. Thankfully it only half worked. Instead of dying he only got really sick for 3 weeks.

What was the last spell you cast?
I don’t talk about active spells. I believe it draws energy away from them.

What was the most powerful spell you’ve ever cast?
Hmm, there was the hex I put on Tom’s coworker that worked immediately. That was pretty awesome. Then there was this crazy, complicated protection spell I cast on a friend when he was on active duty in the Middle East. That one blew my mind.

Have you ever called upon the powers of an animal in ritual?
On occasion.

Have you ever called upon the powers of a plant in ritual?
Yes, I use herbs in most of my workings.

Have you ever called upon the powers of a stone in ritual?
Not very often, but if a need dictates the use of one I will.

What is your favorite plant to work with?
Rosemary.

What is your favorite tree to work with?
Oak.

What is your favorite stone to work with?
Amethyst or Amber.

Are you empathic, clairvoyant, an intuitive, or something else?
I am very empathic and intuitive. I’ve had a rare precognitive dream or two. I also have the sight meaning I am sometimes able to see the unseen, and I get messages from the divine at times.

Do you read the tarot?
Yes, since I was thirteen.

Do you cast runes?
I use runes, but not for divination.

Do you use a pendulum?
Yes, but not usually for divination.

Do you use dowsing rods?
No, I never have.

Do you use astrology?
I use astrology, but not for divination.

Do you use any other form of divination?
I have a black mirror, a spirit board, and on occasion I like to use dreams, augury, and bibliomancy.

What is your favorite form of divination?
The tarot.

I follow the Irish pantheon.

Lugh.

Brighid.

Water, Earth, and Fire.

Have you ever taken a day off work to celebrate a Pagan holiday?
Yes.

How do you usually celebrate the Pagan holidays?
I usually cook a big feast and give appropriate offerings and prayers.

Do you have a familiar?
No.

Do you have a spirit guide?
Yes, a wolf.

What is your power animal?
Wolf and Dragonfly are my main ones. The Wolf is more of a Guardian that I’ve had ever since I can remember, while the Dragonfly is more of a working ally in the sense that it is part of my spirit. There are others that come and go; raccoon is a big one, red-tailed hawk, crows sometimes (more as messengers), and lately moths.

Do you believe in Vampires?
Only in the psy-vamp sense.

Do you believe in Werewolves?
Only in the shapeshifter sense.

Do you believe in Shapeshifters?
Only in the nonphysical sense.

Do you believe in Elves, Fairies, Dragons, Mermaids, etc.?
I believe in a host of otherworldly creatures that can appear however they wish and can bend to our preconceived notions of them.

Have you ever “seen” any of the above?
Yes I have “seen” as well as seen them.

Yes.

Have you ever used any of the above in magic?
Ha! No. But they have participated.

No, not a personal guardian. I do have a household spirit.

Rarely.

Rarely.

No, not in the traditional sense. I believe in cosmic soup.

Yes.
